August Snowflakes

September 6th, 2013 at 11:36 pm

As I said before, August was slow for the snowflakes. I received the following:

Swagbucks $25.00
Found Money .25
Ebay Sales Proceeds 36.48

Total $61.73

That brings the total for the year to $497.20. I'm thinking of sending the majority of this to CC debt, as it has just been sitting in a savings account...

Today was a NSD. I did a few loads of laundry which I dried on the line. I also earned over 200 Swagbucks, most of which were from doing surveys!

Tomorrow I have to work 4 hours, which may give me a couple of hours of overtime this week with the holiday pay. It won't be much, but certainly a few extra dollars!

Friday News!

August 9th, 2013 at 11:07 pm

Snowflakes have been a little slow coming in this month. I did receive $25 from Swagbucks in my Pay Pal account.

I spent some time today doing surveys on Swagbucks. I think I will meet my goal as I only have a few more points to go, and I haven't even watched the videos yet today!

I have one item on Ebay that will end tonight with 4 watchers but no bids yet.

It seems like today will be a NSD!

Another No Spender!

July 8th, 2013 at 04:07 am

I'm very happy I didn't spend any money this weekend. I stayed home again today! Besides, it was too hot again to go anywhere.

I spent today listing several items on Ebay as Buy It Now. I've found that for some things that works better than the auctions. Sometimes with the auction-style, I don't feel like I get what the item(s) are worth...

I cooked some chicken in the crock pot today. I made a salad & cubed up some of the lemon-pepper chicken in it for work tomorrow. After four days off of work, I still don't feel like going back!

A Hot, Humid Weekend!!

July 6th, 2013 at 06:18 pm

It's 88 degrees here and the heat index is 101! I'm sure glad I did the yard work yesterday. I have no desire to go outside much today, let alone go anywhere; therefore, I'm planning a no-spend day in the air-conditioned house:-)

I do have some items I want to put on Ebay and try to de-clutter a bit. I really dread listing stuff on Ebay--writing descriptions, taking photos, etc.--and tend to put it off for months. Ugh! Anyway, I did list and sell some items last week and currently have 2 listed as auctions.

I also want to devote some time to updating my snowflakes from June and total that. I don't have much accumulated in 2013, like I mentioned previously but know that every little bit adds upSmile I also need to figure out where to allocate the $ that I currently have set aside in the snowflake account. Any ideas? We just came back from vacation last week (that I paid for in February), but we did stay an extra day. Maybe I can pay for that expense from the snowflakes. Also, I have accumulated some CC debt in the last couple of years that I've been absent from blogging! Actually, I could probably put a greater percentage to CC debt and a lesser amount to a slush fund. Advice?

I plan to do some more swagging today. I have already met my goal with a survey I took earlier this morning. I don't have problems exceeding my goal on my days off work, but when I work I simply don't have the time to devote to it...

I have some laundry hanging out now and made some homemade chocolate mint tea that I picked from my garden. Enjoying a glass over ice!! Yum!

Have a great, frugal weekend!

Sunday News

March 21st, 2010 at 08:54 pm

Today is a NSD!! I haven't even left the house.

Yesterday I found a dime and a penny while running some errands. We did another mystery shop on Friday evening.

I received an Amazon GC by email from Reward Port Surveys. It was for $10.

Today I listed 5 items on Ebay today. One of them had a bid on it. Another one has a watcher.

Other than that...not much going on here.

Have a wonderful day!

Busy with Mystery Shopping!

March 14th, 2010 at 07:15 pm

I have done three restaurant mystery shops in the last week. The food has been delicious. The service, on the other hand, especially at the one place was not very efficient with less than acceptable wait times after ordering meals. But all in all, not bad considering we can eat out for minimal OOP expenses due to reimbursements and shopper fees. I have another casual restaurant assignment scheduled for tomorrow night.

***

I have found a total of 2 dimes, 1 nickel, and 2 pennies over the course of the last few days while doing these assignments. So 27 cents in found money.

***

I got a $2 check from Survey Savvy on Friday. Yesterday, I received my Rite Aid monthly check rebate for $12.99. So a bit of extra money to send to the extra income fund.

***

Today is another NSD! Yeah!!

Today was a No Spender!

March 8th, 2010 at 01:28 am

I didn't go anywhere today or spend any money...

I did do some yard work--picking up sticks and raking some residual leaves from the fall.

Nothing much financial going on today. I got a Prevacid rebate ready to mail out tomorrow.

Have a great evening!

No Spender & Survey Check

February 27th, 2010 at 06:58 pm

Looks like today will be another NSD!!

Yesterday I got a $2 check in the mail from Survey Savvy. I will add that to my extra income fund.

2 No Spenders + Refund Check

February 21st, 2010 at 07:28 pm

I had 2 NSDs this weekend. No need to go anywhere and spend money!

I got a refund check in the mail yesterday from the cable company. We switched from cable to satellite TV and I had a few days credit left since we switched in the middle of the billing cycle. The amount of the check was $7.79. I will add that to the extra income fund since the money was already budgeted for cable.

Have a great Sunday!

A Second Snow Day

February 12th, 2010 at 04:13 am

I had another day off work today due to the weather. I have been home for 2 days now, so 2 NSDs. I didn't actually get the driveway shoveled completely until today. My muscles are really aching now!!

Tomorrow evening I have a restaurant mystery shop to do. I will probably run a few errands as well.

More No-Spenders & Ebay Update

February 8th, 2010 at 03:21 am

Since we had so much snow this weekend, I didn't go anywhere or spend any money for 2 days.

Today I listed 5 items on Ebay. There are bids on 2 items so far and numerous watchers!

Here are some pictures of the snow we got:

2 No-Spenders!

February 2nd, 2010 at 01:03 am

I had 2 NSD this weekend. I didn't go anywhere on Saturday or Sunday. It felt great not to be spending money, not to mention the gasoline I saved by not running a bunch of errands!

Small Amount of Extra Money

January 30th, 2010 at 05:23 pm

I got 19 cents added to my Pay Pal account from You Data yesterday. Also, I found a penny at the gas station while running errands last night.

Today I have been doing some surveys. I requested a payout of $2 from Survey Savvy.

It looks like today will be another NSD!!

Have a wonderful weekend!

NSD

January 27th, 2010 at 02:12 am

Today was another no spender for me.

I got another refund check in the mail today for $17.72 for the Olay Quench Lotion. I will add that to the extra income fund!

Sunday Update

January 25th, 2010 at 02:20 am

Yesterday I found a penny while at the grocery store. I also received a refund check in the mail for $3.69.

I had Direct TV installed yesterday. So far everything is fine. Many more options than with cable TV and much less expensive Smile.

Today was another no-spender!!

Have a safe evening!

NSD + Great Mail Day!!

January 17th, 2010 at 04:30 pm

Yesterday I have another no spender.

I got a total of $16.28 in refund checks today in the mail. Also, I got a product to sample from Pinecone based on a survey I did last weekend.

Today may be another NSD...we will see!!

NSD, $5, & Republic of Tea

January 7th, 2010 at 03:25 am

Today was another NSD for me.

I got a $5 gift certificate in the mail today from Rite Aid from their Christmas promotion. I also received a Republic of Tea catalog in the mail (which I requested) along with a sample of Chocolate Strawberry tea! Has anyone ordered any tea through this company? I love drinking all types of tea and was just wondering if this brand is worth the extra money.

NSDs and a Small Check

January 3rd, 2010 at 08:20 pm

I had 2 no spenders this year so far--Friday and today!!

Yesterday I got a refund check in the mail for $2.88 so that will be added to the extra income account for the week.

I need to prepare some refund offers to send out tomorrow and work on my budget a bit, then I plan to relax a little.

Have a great day!

NSD & Rebates

December 24th, 2009 at 08:42 pm

Today will be a no spender for me.

I did get some rebate offers ready this morning and mailed those out. Other than that I stopped by the bank to deposit my paycheck, then headed back home.

I had some additional personal days to use up before the end of the year, so I am off work through Monday.

Have a great holiday season everyone!

No Spender & Ebay Update

December 14th, 2009 at 02:08 am

I didn't spend any money today, in fact I didn't even leave the house. I was busy doing laundry and baking cookies.

Some of the Ebay auctions ended today. I packaged up 4 of the 6 items that I received
payment for thus far. I will drop them off at the post office in the morning before work. I'll update my profits after the other auctions are over in a day or so.

Have a great evening!

NSD & Ebay Update

December 10th, 2009 at 04:29 am

I had a no-spender today...haven't had one of those in a while!

I finished listing items on Ebay tonight since the seller special ends today. I have 18 items listed with bids on 5 of them. I still have at least 2 days left on all the listings. There has been no interest on the 2 items I posted on Craigslist.

Another NSD!

September 8th, 2009 at 04:06 am

I've had another NSD today! Didn't leave the house in 2 days now.

I ended up doing some yard work today + some laundry and that's about it.

Tomorrow it is back to work!

Have a great evening!

NSD, Ebay, & Cell Phones

September 7th, 2009 at 04:58 pm

Yesterday was a NSD for me. I haven't had one of those in a long time.

+++

I am still awaiting payment for an Ebay item that sold over a week ago. I sent the buyer 2 invoices so far + an email and I haven't received a response to any of those. My next step will be to file a dispute with the buyer, and probably end of relisting the item.

There isn't any interest in the item I have listed on Craigslist...

+++

I recently did a little research on choosing a different cell phone plan. Initially, both DD & I had individual plans through ATT, although it is considered one account under my name. Her plan was 450 anytime minutes with unlimited texting. Mine was 900 minutes. By reviewing previous bills, I determined that she barely uses 100 minutes/month. On the other hand, I use around 700 min./month. She would rather text than talk on the phone.

Since we have some rollover minutes accumulated, I opted to switch to a family plan of 550 shared minutes with early nights/weekends (7PM-7AM). I think we should be fine without going over each month.

It will end up saving us $30/month, which we will both benefit from since she pays her own portion. I should have probably changed this a long time ago, but initially when she got her cell phone a couple of years ago she went over her minutes (and that was my concern). Now, however, she texts almost exclusively!

Happy Labor Day everyone!

A No Spender

July 29th, 2009 at 02:12 am

Today I didn't spend any money. Nothing else going on financially...

I need to go enter another mystery shop report online.

Have a great evening!

A No Spender!

July 6th, 2009 at 12:57 am

I haven't had a NSD for a long time. I didn't go anywhere today, just stayed home.

I did some decluttering today. I had a pile of papers sitting on my desk. I filed the ones I needed to keep & threw the rest away. I am so amazed at how stuff accumulates!

Have a great evening all!

Another No Spender + Banking Changes

May 4th, 2009 at 12:56 am

Today I didn't go anywhere or spend any money.

I closed out my online bank account at Provident Direct. There was a bit over $1 left in it. The interest rate at one time was one of the highest and now it is one of the lowest...as far as online savings accounts go. Provident is switching to M & T Bank sometime this month.

I still have the majority of my readily accessible cash with Shore Bank in an online savings account, which is paying 2.45% APY. I have a checking account with ING Direct to pay my bills. I need to find out if I can have subcategory accounts with Shore Bank.

Have a great evening!

A Busy Day...but planned on doing more!

April 27th, 2009 at 02:50 am

After sleeping in a bit this morning (Sunday is the only day I have the luxury of doing this), I decided to make a list of stuff to do today. I normally don't make a "to-do" list, but I might do it more often because I have a sense of accomplishment after checking off completed items.

Here is my list:

* replace headlight bulb in car
* clip & file coupons (a few weeks worth)
* get several refund offers ready to mail
* do laundry + hang it outside
* do yard work (mow, pick up sticks, debris)
* go to Walgreen's & CVS
* work on budget + tracking of expenses (transfer from index cards to spreadsheet for last 2 months)
* put away blankets, flannel sheets, etc.
* declutter my desk
* highlight my hair

Well, I got everything done except replacing the bulb and going shopping. It turned out to be a NSD for me.

I'm trying to be better about hanging laundry on the clothesline/drying racks as opposed to using the dryer so much. I did at least 5 loads of laundry today and hung it all out. There was a slight breeze + the temperature was in the 80s.

++++++

For the extra income fund, I have $66.12 to deposit for the week:

$52.71 Citicard Rewards Check
$01.00 Greenfield Online
$10.00 Your2Cents Surveys
$02.39 Refund Check
$00.02 Found Money

That brings the total to $3616.72.

Sunday Update

April 20th, 2009 at 02:24 am

It was another NSD for me today. I did some yard work before it started to rain late this afternoon.

+++

I requested another $10 check from Your2Cents surveys. Of course I haven't received the one that I requested on 2/18/09 yet Frown I haven't been getting many invites for Global Test Market...that figures I am close to being able to cash out for $50. I requested $1 payment to Paypal from Greenfield online surveys yesterday.

+++

I also cashed out on my Citicard Rewards Cash for a bit over $50. I am nearing the $20 minimum for the Discover Card, so that should be doable next month.

+++

It looks like I should have a good bit of extra income coming in here in the next few weeks. I always look forward to that. It is fun watching the extra income fund grow. It reiterates the fact that even small bits of money really are important--from the found penny to the Saturday income & all amounts in between!!

Finally Done with Taxes & Another NSD!

April 15th, 2009 at 02:01 am

I finished up both my state and local taxes tonight. It turns out I owe about $75 state & am due a refund of $18 for local! I will make copies tomorrow and mail everything out.

I didn't spend any money today...too busy working then finishing my taxes!!

NSD

April 12th, 2009 at 08:53 pm

Today is another no spender for me.

Since our Easter meal, I have done several loads of laundry which I hung outside. It is a nice day, with a slight breeze.

I still need to finish my state & local taxes. Also, I want to list some stuff on Ebay this week. Tomorrow it is back to work. Then after work, I have a mystery shop to do.

Have a nice, frugal weekend!!
