Quicken Online

October 13th, 2008 at 10:52 pm

Today, I received an email that Quicken Online is free as of 10/13!! I had signed up for the 60 day free trial, then it was supposed to go to $2.99/month after that. I like the website and its' features; however, there are some glitches I think that still need to be addressed.

I am happy that it is now free because I probably would have canceled my account after the 60 days. I don't think it is even worth the $2.99/month since the site still needs some work done on it.

Neat! I have to check this out myself. I was bored this evening and in need of something financial to occupy myself with. Thanks!

What sort of glitches have you noticed?

dmontngrey--Well, most recently (just tonight) I went to access my account and could not sign in. I made a new password thinking I would still be able to access everything that I had already entered as far as account #s , and all my info was completely wiped out...GONE! Now I have to start all over entering all my bank, CC, and investment accounts again. For another thing, I don't think the section labeled "am I living within my means" is accurate. Almost all of the categories need adjusted on the transaction page also. When I transfer money from checking to savings for example...I don't think it is allocated properly. These are reasons why I wouldn't pay for the service. There is too much work to do after transactions are electronically transferred to Quicken, IMO.

Oh that would REALLY aggravate me as this is going to take HOURS for me to get set up in the first place. I have too many accounts - yes, a hobby of mine I really need to downsize. I guess I wont go crazy trying to enter TOO much stuff tonight. lol....

Come to think of it: the first account aggregation site I tried out was My Portfolio through BOA and there was a problem linking my new checking account. Once their tech support fixed the problem *POOF* my accounts weren't there anymore. I gave up on that one really fast.

I am VERY interested in checking out Quicken though!

Yeah, I'm glad it's free too because I probably would have cancelled my account.

There's also Mint and Yodlee if you want to shop around. Maybe Buxfer too.

I'm liking Yodlee myself so far. Makes reconciling credit card accounts EASY for me. I don't like Mint so much. It keeps saying they can't log in to my accounts half the time. I can't even link my main bank and it's not a small no-name bank. Just always looking out for something new!
